Josie turned 6 months old on Saturday and celebrated the weekend by reaching 12 pounds!! She is really packing on the weight with the help of the feeding tube. We went to KC yesterday for her followup appointment with the GI doctor. He had her PH study results and they showed that her reflux level was double the normal range. He suggested we do a fundalplication surgery where a surgeon wraps the stomach around the esophagus to remove the ability to reflux. It is done laproscopically and typically in conjunction with a G-tube in her tummy. This would allow us to remove the nasal feeding tube which Josie has become so skilled at pulling out. We aren't sure yet if surgery is the best option, but are looking forward to meeting the surgeon on Tuesday to learn more.
In the meantime Josie pulled her NG tube out in the middle of the night on Tuesday and we decided to leave it out for awhile and see how she does. She is holding her own on feeding from the bottle. Yesterday she managed to get to the minimum number of ounces and although she lost a li

ttle weight we are going to see how today goes before we put the NG tube back in. She felt great yesterday without it. She went for a long walk, played, and didn't cry all day. Chad was working from home which was great that he could see her feeling so well, too. We both felt like we lived a normal day:) The babysitters spent sometime with Josie last night while Chad and I went to dinner. We think that is going to become a Wednesday night routine. All four of the nursing students came and went through all of her medical paperwork while they kept an eye on her. I think it is becoming a learning experience for them too and they asked us great questions when we got home.
Today Josie continues to feel great and has been rolling around the living room all morning. I haven't seen her this active in a long time. It is so nice to see her feeling good and just breaks your heart to realize how bad she really must feel most of the time.
We'll post an update after we see the surgeon on Tuesday...
