11 Pounds

Josie had a fairly good week and now weighs 11 pounds!! Over the last few days she has really started to eat better from the bottle. We are still relying on the feeding tube to finish most feedings, but Josie is at least eating a decent amount from the bottle. She has days where she seems to be feeling better, but for the most part she still doesn't feel too good. Josie seems to have developed a case of seasonal allergies on top of everything else. The poor kid can't seem to catch a break. We are trying to stay inside now since everytime we go out her eyes get red and she sneezes. Josie made another trip to KC on Thursday for her first follow up appointment with the nutritionist and occupational therapist. They were very satisfied with her progress. We are going to follow up with them periodically and they are going to redo the swallow study in 6 months to see if she is continuing to aspirate formula.

We unfortunately missed the Stewart Labor Day weekend get together since Josie is avoiding large crowds for now. We did connect with everyone via Skype so it was good to see Grandma Stewart and everyone on video. It definitely isn't the same as in person, but we were glad they all got to see Josie.

We are looking forward to a week with no doctor's appointments before we start back next week with trips to KC. Also, we will be meeting a couple of potential babysitters this week. Several seniors in nursing from PSU have expressed interest in learning how to operate the feeding tube and babysitting for us periodically. We are excited for Josie to meet them! It will be nice for Chad and I to get out of the house together every once in awhile...
