Henry is officially 3 months old this week! It is hard to believe it's been 3 months already, although, I can't remember what it was like when he wasn't around:) He is thriving and doing great. He is still easy-going as ever and talking more and more everyday. He is a little chatterbox.
Josie is doing well and cut another tooth this week. We are very glad it came through because she hasn't been sleeping well at all. Last night was much better (knock on wood). She is continuing to use her signs well and starting to put two signs together. This week she keeps signing "more down" to me so that I will get on the floor and play with her:) We put the Christmas tree up last week and Josie is staying out of it, ... so far. She is really into snow globes and loves to see pictures of Santa. Gramma and Grampa Scott have a large framed picture of Santa in their living room. If we say, "Where is Santa?" she will crawl in there and point to it:)
We have made some big decisions in our house over the last couple of months regarding Josie's care and future. We are moving to Kansas City to be closer to Josie's medical care and for better school options. It is very important for Josie to be near Children's Mercy not only when she gets sick, but also for her long-term medical needs. In addition, we have been able to get her accepted into a therapeutic 2 year-old program at the Children's Therapy Learning Center in downtown Kansas City. This program will allow Josie to go to school 2 1/2 hours a day and receive speech, physical therapy, and occupational therapy right in the classroom. In addition, she will be around other kiddos. She has made such great progress in
the short time we have been in speech that we really think this type of intensive therapy will pay huge dividends for the future. All of Josie's therapists and physicians have agreed that this is a great opportunity. We are going to miss our pediatrician greatly, but when I told her we were moving she was so happy for Josie.
We hope to move to the Stanley/Stillwell area so Josie can begin preschool at Blue Valley Schools next February. They have a great reputation for special education services and the use of technology in their schools. We are definitely sad that we are leaving Gramma and Grampa Scott and Uncle Phil, but know we will see them often in KC. Sometimes life just doesn't work out the way you planned, but we are really excited about the opportunities for Josie and Henry. We know we are very fortunate to have the means and ability to provide Josie with these opportunities, while having great support from our families. The next couple of months are going to be hectic while we sell our house, find a new one, and move. This will be the 5th move for Chad and I since we got married. We should be pros by now:) I have resigned from my position at PSU due to the fact that I really need to manage Josie's care until she is in school full-time. I always thought I went to school for so long and studied special education to return to PSU as a professor, but what I didn't realize was there was something much more important for me to do with that degree. The move also lets us see Chad much more than we do now. He is only going to be 15 minutes from work, which has never happened before. We are excited that he won't be on the road so much and it will be amazing the first time he is home from work at 4:00:)
