We have been busy that last couple of weeks with doctor's appointments, therapy sessions, and beginning to enjoy some warmer weather. Henry is growing like a weed as you can see:) He is the most patient baby and is traveling well to all the appointments. Josie has also been doing great! We started feeding therapy once a week at home and have modified Josie's eating routine considerably. She got a big girl booster seat, which she is very proud of and is only at the dinner table when she is eating by mouth. She is now wearing a backpack that holds her pump and food during g-tube feedings. Overall, she has adapted very well to the backpack and is enjo
ying more freedom to get around during feeds. We also had a visit from the dietician

who helped me work on Josie's feeding schedule and calculate calories. Josie has gained enough weight that we have some breathing room to feed her a little less and let her feel hunger in the hopes that she will eat more by mouth. Josie has needed the input of a dietician for so long it was just wonderful to have someone sit down and work through her meals with us. Josie also got her hearing aid this week. She is doing very well with it and did much better in the hearing booth with it on. It has added a few more tasks to our day, but overall has been fairly easy to start using. Josie also had her first visit to her new school! We are doing outpatient therapies one day a week until she starts school at the end of the month. This allows her to get used to the school and therapists. She even got to meet some of the kiddos in her class. She responded well to the therapists and seemed to really like them. The physical therapist was excited to see how well she was using her walker, but also suggested we consider braces for her feet. The PT is going to show us how do to the taping procedure for Josie's torticollis, as well. It is basically a way they tape the neck to either promote the use of the muscles that are weak or weaken the side that is so tight. Overall, I was a little disappointed to hear about more things Josie may need attached to her. It seems like there is only so much we can ask her to wear, but I know the PT is suggesting these things to help Josie develop as quickly as possible. They are all things Chad and I will need to consider, as well, as get input from Josie's rehab medicine doctor at the end of the month. Josie was exhausted at the end of the two hours at TLC, so it is going to be interesting to see how she adapts to 3 1/2 hours a day when she starts attending class. I was excited to see what she will be doing while she is there and can't imagine the kind of growth we are going to see from her. Everyone seemed very knowledgable and also excited to see Josie. Today we are enjoying a much needed day at home and can't wait to get outside this afternoon.
