Josie has had a little more difficult week this week. She isn't tolerating her feeds as well and is not sleeping well at all. We aren't sure what is causing it but she doesn't seem to be getting worse so we are going to see how she does through the weekend. This week we got back to physical therapy and Brian was so excited to see Josie pulling up. We got a couple of new things to work on in the pool since Josie is enjoying it so much. On Thursday we saw the surgeon at Children's Mercy. He thinks the best thing to do at this point with Josie's button is to take her into the operating room to try to remove the scar tissue and inject steroids into it. We decided to wait until her Mayo surgery to do it and Mayo coordinated a plastic surgeon to come in and take care of it. Unfortunately, the surgeon said this is not a good situation. Best case scenario the scar tissue reduces in size enough to slow down the leaking around her button, worst case scenario they have to put a whole new button in. We are just glad they are going to be able to do it at Mayo so Josie only has to be put under once.
The Mayo surgery has been moved to July 19th so that we can do a sleep study there before surgery. They may decide to take Josie's tonsils out if she has obstructive sleep apnea and this way they can do it all in one surgery. We are going to ride up with Grampa and Gramma Scott on the 14th and Chad is going to come up on the weekend. It worked out well schedule wise because Grampa Scott was already going to be there for a yearly physical and Chad can save some of his vacation time for Henry's arrival. We are hoping to come home by the 21st or 22nd. Hard to believe we are going to end up spending three weeks of our summer in Minnesota, but it is a relief to get this done before we have two kiddos in the house.
This weekend we are going to celebrate the 4th with a swim party with the Johnson's and a fireworks show with friends. We are really looking forward to spending some time with family and friends.
Hope everyone has a safe 4th of July!
