It has once again been too long since the last post. The days just fly by as we wrap up winter and look forward to spring. Josie is enjoying the outdoors again now that it has warmed up. The last few days we have gone on long walks and she really likes it. In fact, yesterday she fell asleep in her stroller and slept until we got home. Last summer she didn't enjoy outside or her stroller much so this is exciting! It felt like a normal afternoon going outside and enjoying a walk. As you can see from the picture, Gramma has found Josie a new toy in the form of a shoe box. Josie loves to sit in it and play:) She is also really getting into books. Yesterday I gave her the choice of her iphone or a book and she actually chose the book! Recently, Josie has gotten into looking at the Toys-r-Us add...I think she is shopping for birthday items:)Josie weighed 15 pounds 13 ounces this weekend and has gained a pound in the last month. This is exactly the kind of weight she needs to be gaining and is a good sign. We tried to feed her continously through the night last week and it worked for a few nights, but then she started sleeping poorly. Chad and I were both exhausted by Friday, so we've stopped it for awhile. We were hoping to get a decent quantity in at night, so we could let Josie get hungry during the day in hopes that she would eat more from the bottle. We are still working on a solution to allow her to feel a little hungry. The good news is she is starting to drink from a cup and looooves ice water and ice chips.
We had another visit with Dr. Woolrey, the pediatrician, last week to follow up on the GI appointment. During the appointment we discussed with her our concern about Josie's lack of development in crawling and talking. She agreed that we should be concerned and observed Josie for awhile. The pediatrician thinks Josie is acting more like a 6 month old than a baby getting ready to turn 1. We suggested we see a neurologist again and Dr. Woolrey agreed suggesting that we also see a developmental pediatrician at Children's Mercy.
Soooo we are going to be back on the road for awhile going to doctor's appointments. In the next couple of months, Josie has 7 doctor's appointments and we are starting physical therapy on Monday. I am hoping that we have PT at least once a week and get a decent amount of therapy in before we see neurology in late March. In the meantime, we will keep plugging away on feeding and working on crawling. Neither Chad or I were surprised by the pediatrician visit, but it was still upsetting to hear that Josie may have a tough road ahead. We had prepared ourselves for this when we were pregnant since we expected the Dandy-Walker Syndrome to be present at birth. Once that was ruled out we kind of let our guard down and expected things to progress a little more normally. We are still so blessed to have such a sweet and happy little girl and we are focusing on enjoying each day with her.
